Lars @ March 27th 2015

ELR now shows you the price of each mix, provided that you have filled in your PG, VG, Nic, Water/Vodka/PGA and flavor bottle sizes and prices.

If you get a small question mark beside the price, it means that one of the flavorings is missing volume or pricing information.

I hope you'll find it useful!

Lars @ January 6th 2015

I reversed the previous update. ELR will no longer correct the ratio. Instead the old error message is shown. I will work on that at some point again to make it act better.

Lars @ January 5th 2015

Small change: ELR will now auto-correct PG/VG-ratios when they don't fit. Before you got a warning telling you that something was wrong with the ratio, and you had to correct it yourself.

Lars @ January 4th 2015

Ok, a few changes! There is a lot of small tweaks! First of all, I wanted to add some new functionality on the recipes, but it was getting really crowded with buttons. Show I moved them all into an "action button", beside the recipe name. This is where you will find the "Print", "Adapt this", "Edit" and "Delete".

There are a few new options: There are four new copy to clipboard items:

Not all forums that use markdown and BBCODE support tables, and this uses tables, so don't be surprised if it doesn't look right everywhere.

Do you have an ADV? Are you tired of constantly mixing all the flavors again and again? Why not try to make a flavor base? It's your recipe, but only the flavoring! That way you only measure off from ONE flavor when you mix your ADV! Try it! Click the action button and select "Make flavor base"!

For those of you who don't feel like mixing right now, or don't feel like buying the flavors needed for a recipe, you can now ORDER the recipe from the awesome VapeCrafter-site! They have more or less EVERY flavor you can imagine! Try them out!

You can now sort on the recipes on the flavor details page. That was missing.

Lars @ December 8th 2014

OK! Lots of changes recently. I was contacted by a couple of users that requested a feature that I had been missing myself: A shopping list. If you go to the flavor details page of a flavor, you can now add the flavor to your shopping list.
The shoppinglist itself is available from "My Page".

You can now update your notes and rating of a flavor through the flavor details page itself. It was a bummer to have to go to the stash to do that.

The stash now contains several other properties: Flavor container size in ml and the cost of that. Also you can specify the carrier liquid (PG/VG/other) of the flavor plus the weight per ml. These values are automatically used when present, creating recipes. If you don't write anything, or remove what you have previously written, default values apply: Flavors are PG and the weight of PG-flavors are 1.09, VG-flavors 1.16 and other-flavors 0.98.

You can specify what percentage you like to mix, when mixing the flavor as a SINGLE flavor recipe. This will be used to enrich the flavor details page. (That part is not implemented yet).

If you go to update your profile, you will find a boat load of new fields: Nicotine container size (ml), nicotine price, PG container size (ml), PG price etc.

The price fields will be used to calculate a price for the mixes you do.

These changes opens up the possibility to track how much of a liquid you have on hand. (Also not implemented yet).

Lars @ October 12th 2014, 05:15 CEST

The day has come! You can now see all recipes you can make, based on the flavors that are in your stash. This was a tough nut to crack, but I finally did it! Do not be surprised at how few you can make. Remember, if you only have 3 flavors, it will only find recipes containing exactly one or more of those flavors.

This functionality again emphasizes the importance of using flavor names that other people use!

Lars @ September 14th 2014, 15:05 CEST

When adding flavors to a recipe, the flavors in your stash now takes priority over other flavors. Hopefully it will be easier to create recipes, and hopefully it will limit the amount of duplicate flavors that I have to correct :-)

Lars @ June 23rd 2014, 02:51 CEST

I have finally made it possible to see how many ratings there are on a recipe. If you hover your mouse over the stars, it will tell you the average vote and the number of votes.

The recipe sort by rating was previously pretty useless. I have made a lot of experiments with this and have finally settled on a method that makes sense. The sort by rating should now work in a meaningful way. For those interested I have implemented a sorting based on the Wilson score confidence interval for a Bernoulli parameter ;-)

Flavor ratings are presently unaffected.

Also when you click on a username, it is more clear from the list, that all recipes are by one author :-)

Lars @ June 1st 2014, 14:51 CEST

I adjusted the PG weight to 1.036, VG to 1.261 and vodka/pga to 0.938 g/ml. Flavors in PG remain 1 g/ml, VG 1.16 but I changed flavor in "other" to 0.98

Lars @ June 1st 2014, 01:36 CEST

Finally an update from me! :) One big update: You can now choose to mix by weight! Mixing by weight is much easier and less messy. All you need is a precision scale with at least 0.01g resolution. If you use FastTech, you can get one like this. I use this one from DX.com.

To turn it on, go to your profile page, and turn it on there. You can always go back.

A few things to say about this. Right now you can't specify yourself what the weight is. I have set PG to weigh 1.04 g/ml, VG is set to 1.26 g/ml and vodka/PGA is set to weigh 0.9 g/ml (it should probably be 0.8). Flavoring in PG is set to weigh 1 g/ml, flavoring in VG 1.16 g/ml and other is 0.95 g/ml.

My main thing with this right now: You should be able to set the weight of the flavoring yourself.

I have made a few successful mixes using this setup, so it should work fine ;-)

Also I've had a request for the flavor stash to look better on print, so it should look better now. An even cleaner print-version can be had by pressing the print-icon on the stash page.

Lars @ March 4th 2014, 02:08 CEST

I should really sleep. Instead I've created a page with tips and tricks!
Read the new Master Mixer's Tips & Tricks.

Lars @ March 3rd 2014, 02:30 CEST

I fixed a whole bunch of stuff, and upgraded some software on the server. Everything seems to be alright.

You now have a "Notify on comment" checkbox in your profile. It's on per default. Whenever someone comments on one of your recipes, or makes a comment on a recipe that you have also commented on, you will receive an email about it.

There's other stuff too, but I am tired, and have trouble remembering all the stuff I did :)

Lars @ February 13th 2014, 23:37 CEST

For those who would like to quit nicotine, but still want just a little for that throat-hit we all so like, it is now possible to have a target nicotine strength with a precision of 0.1 mg. Thanks to user gilhoo for the suggestion, and congrats on almost kicking nicotine (he vapes at 0.5 mg!).

Lars @ February 12th 2014, 16:44 CEST

Why not be social while you DIY? I've created an event in Google+ in the future to make a "permanent" hangout.
It can be accessed here: http://bit.ly/diy_hangout (through bit.ly) or directly.

I've been busy with my paying job, so I haven't had that much time to mess around with e-liquid-recipes. There are a few nice features on the way, so keep an eye out :)

Lars @ January 31th 2014, 14:12 CEST

A while back I talked to a user here - he worked with a premium juice manufacturer, and were developing their website. I'm talking about VaporBoost.com, a new American juice manufacturer, that should be good. Unfortunately I can't really test them, because they don't send to Denmark. I wish they could send me some flavoring concentrate, so I can add my own nic base (it's illegal to import nicotine from a non EU country). Anyway, I believe VaporBoost uses e-liquid-recipes.com :-) Good luck to them! Let me know if they make good juice!

Lars @ January 29th 2014, 03:10 CEST

A kind user noticed that the calculator saved max quantity of 255 ml. I fixed that, so now you should be able to save those 16000000 ml recipes you make :)

I've been thinking of adding a review section somewhere here. If you want me to review something, I'll do my best ;)
So if you want to review something, or indeed just want to send me something, I can only accept packages (not letters at the moment) sent to this address:

Pakkeboks 625

Lars @ January 26th 2014, 16:22 CEST

I've been working on a way to search by flavor - So that you can find recipes that contain specific flavors. My intention was to create an advanced search with auto complete, but I could not come up with a satisfactory presentation. Therefore I have now implemented a simple list with all the flavors from your flavor stash, and you can then check off the ones that must be included in the recipes. To use it, log in, and go to the front page. There is a link by the search button.

Lars @ January 11th 2014, 15:50 CEST

Small update. You can now see the PG/VG ratio of the nicotine juice in the recipe, as well as the total mls and percentage of flavors.

Lars @ January 7th 2014, 12:40 CEST

We jave just moved the server to Digital Ocean - Cheap and stable hosting using fast SSD-disks! :)

Please let us know if you experience any problems.

Lars @ December 11th 2013, 22:09 CEST

There are a few more things on the resources page now. I will put more there, and maybe restructure it, at some point.

Ingredients are now sorted alphabetically on recipes.

Previously you could click on an entire row, in a list. I changed that, since it altered default browser behavior. You couldn't middle-click properly and a few other side effects. So that's gone now.

Also I continuously clean up duplicate flavors for the most common brands. Like change TFA to TPA and merge dupes.

Lars @ November 30th 2013, 17:58 CEST

I secured a 10% discount to Pink Mule for you guys, I added it to the resources page, and links from relevant flavors.

Lars @ November 26th 2013, 21:32 CEST

As per request, your own recipes are now paginated. Sorting defaults to recipe creation date, latest first. Should help you guys with tons of recipes :-)

Lars @ November 22nd 2013, 22:16 CEST

I secured a 15% discount to new Flavor West customers.

You can now also get a 10% discount on Liberty-Flights.com. They have Flavour Art and Decadent Vapours flavorings.

Lars @ November 17th 2013, 23:06 CEST

I launched the new flavor warning list, on the brand new resources page!
I will continue to expand that page with interesting stuff.

I cleaned TPA/TFA a couple of times, Twoj Liquid and Inawera. Added direct links to the manufacturer's shops on a couple of flavor brands.

Lars @ November 14th 2013, 22:59 CEST

I continue to clean flavors every once in a while. Lots of people still insist that their flavors are from TFA - and I change them to TPA ;) Again, my reasoning is that it is in fact the same company and the same flavors. Although I am not 100% sure of that, but that's been my assumption so far.

After looking around for flavors that I could mark with warnings, I had a discussion with a redditor - It got rough and constructive :) This site is going to provide a list of flavors with warnings attached to them, that is accessible from one place and can be accessed even when not logged in.
The details of flavors marked with a small warning triangle, can now be viewed by everyone, even if you're not logged in. Unmarked flavors still require you to be logged in. In case you're wondering what's on the details page, it's all useful information, like averange (and mean), minimum and maximum mixing ratios use in recipes. You can see notes on flavors and ratings. There are links to the recipes that uses the flavors, and it says how many private recipes use this flavor.

There is much to do - I am keeping a list of features I'd like to implement, and I will get to them, eventually :-)

A few people have donated, and I am grateful for that. That and the people clicking on the occasional google ad, it looks like it can pay for the site hosting, so that's nice!

I'll continue to update the site, and try to remember to update this news page :-)

Lars @ October 28th 2013, 02:33 CEST

Ok, I've cleaned more flavors, also with the help of some of my awesome users!

A big change: The auto complete function now shows some brand names prettier. This is only in the dropdown. For example, TFA/TPA flavors (which has "(TPA)" in their name), will display like so: "Bavarian Cream - The Flavor/Perfumer's Apprentice" - When you select it, your flavor field will say "Bavarian Cream (TPA)". I hope that is nice, and not too confusing. What do you think?

Lars @ October 26th 2013, 22:33 CEST

I gotta remember to update this. I've made so many new things and just forgotten to write here about them. Hmm ok. So what did I do?

Firstly I've fixed a lot of small bugs.

I've made it, so that when you adapt a recipe, you get an "Adapted from"-button, that will take you to the original. This is only going forward. Old adaptations don't know where they came from. Poor them.

The flavor details page, isn't used much. I hope that this will change, because it will tell you a lot. An example is Black Honey Tobacco (TPA).
It tells you the minimum, maximum and average mixing ratio of a flavor. It shows the average rating and the ratings individual people gave it. The notes that people put on their flavor stash for this flavor.
There are links to all public recipes using this flavor, and lastly it tells you the number of private recipes that exist using this flavor.
For a lot of the Flavour Art-flavors, there is now a link to buy it directly from Flavour Art. You should use the discount code "FA10" at checkout, to receive a 10% discount.

You can now see PG/VG ratio of a recipe - When you adapt, this will change to your defaults.

Inaweras flavors cleaned up. They are now named like "Strawberry (Inawera)".

There might be more, but I can't quite remember it :-)

Lars @ October 19th 2013, 02:17 CEST

LorAnn's flavors cleaned up. They are now named like the others, e.g. "Strawberry (LA)".

You can see all the LorAnn-flvors here (login required).

Lars @ October 18th 2013, 20:04 CEST

Decadent Vapours cleaned up. They are now named like the others, e.g. "Strawberry (DV)".

You can see all the Decadent Vapours-flvors here (login required).

Lars @ October 17th 2013, 21:08 CEST

I cleaned up all flavors for Flavor West, with the help of the user D :-) Again, there weren't that many. They are now named like the others, e.g. "Strawberry (FW)".

If you're really interested, you can see all the Flavor West-flvors here (login required).

Lars @ October 16th 2013, 22:32 CEST

I cleaned up all flavors for Capella. There weren't that many, but it looks better now. They are named like the others, e.g. "Strawberry (Cap)".

If you're really interested, you can see all the Capella-flvors here (login required).

Lars @ October 16th 2013, 02:23 CEST

I had a CDO-attack again, and cleaned up all flavors for The Perfumer's Apprentice / The Flavor Apprentice. Marked all TFA-flavors as duplicates of TPA. The result is that all the TPA/TFA flavors are now called stuff like "Apple (TPA)" - We are now hovering around 4700 flavors (down from around 5300)!

If you're really interested, you can see all the TPA-flvors here (login required).

Lars @ October 15th 2013, 21:35 CEST

I went completely CDO (it's like OCD, but with all the letters in the correct order), and cleaned up all the Flavour Art flavors. The result is that all the FA flavors are now called stuff like "Apple (FA)" - I merged the duplicates, and there were LOTS. There are now over 1000 less flavors in the database - there is now only a mere 5300 flavors (before I began there were over 6500)!

If you're really interested, you can see all the FA-flvors here (login required).

Lars @ October 13th 2013, 04:29 CEST

Ok, I've launched the crowdsourced duplicate flavor checker. If you feel like helping, you can head over to "My page", and click "Duplicate checker". Then enter one or more search terms of the duplicate flavors that you would like to eliminate. Say for instance "FA Apple" - Locate the flavor that you think should be the "real" flavor and check the radio button for that. Then locate all the flavors you think are duplicates of this, and check the checkbox for those. Then click "Toggle unchecked" to get a better view of what you have checked off. If you are happy, then just click "Suggest duplicates".

I will go through all the suggestions, and either accept or reject them, and our database will look much nicer.

In the next few days, I will create a system that interfaces with your flavor stash, so you can check off the flavors you would like, and see if there are any recipes that uses them. Because of our work with the duplicates, the results should be much better!

Lars @ October 14th 2013, 18:03 CEST

I've fixed a few bugs. One of them was that your nicotine strength wasn't applied when you clicked "Adapt this".
Flavors on a recipe now link to flavor details. Details still require that you are logged in.

Lars @ October 12th 2013, 17:01 CEST

Yesterday Spydro from ECF said that he couldn't make the defaults work. When he set the defaults, they weren't applied when he clicked "Adapt this". Now this wasn't a bug. The default values were only applied when you created a new recipe. Honestly for three years I hadn't thought of making adapt do that. Makes no sense. Anyway, thanks to him "Adapt his" now applies your default values!

When you are using the flavor list, and go to the details of a flavor, it will now tell you the average mixing percentage used by people in the recipes.

Lars @ October 8th 2013, 01:36 CEST

The launch went fairly well. It's nice to see the site reponds better than before. I haven't had that much feedback. Mostly positive though :-)

I decided to start development on a crowd-sourced system to weed out duplicate flavors.
It relies on the good will of people. The way it will work is that you need to decide to help kill a few duplicates.

You are given a search field, where you can search for a flavor, e.g. "Apple" - then all flavors with "Apple" are displayed (even pineappleicious). You then choose which of those are the correct one you want to keep, and then mark off all the duplicates of this particular flavor.

I will then go through the submissions and approve them. Once approved the duplicate flavors will disappear. That means that if you said "(TPA) Apple" was the correct flavor, everyone who had "Apple TFA" in their recipes now sees "(TPA) Apple" instead.

Why do we do this? Simple - To make a cleaner database that will help us find exactly the recipes we want. With this you can go into your flavor stash, mark off, for instance, "(TPA) Apple" and "(DV) Menthol" and search for recipes that uses both these flavors.

Lars @ October 7th 2013, 05:19 CEST

After a long fight, we've decided to launch the new and much improved site! It has gotten a major overhaul and should be MUCH faster now.

Everything is still free, and it will stay that way, as long as I'm in charge. I have added a few more google adverts. Don't be shy - Click the interesting ones ;-)
The site itself is not free for me to run.
